Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal data Net Zero Jobs collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and what your rights are under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Net Zero Jobs ("we", "us", "our") is a sole-trader business operated from the United Kingdom. The site netzerojobs.uk is the UK's specialist job board for home decarbonisation careers — heat pump installation, retrofit, insulation, solar, and energy assessment roles.
For any privacy-related question, contact us at jobs@netzerojobs.uk.
2. What data we collect
Newsletter signups
When you submit your email address via our subscribe form, we collect your email address and the date of signup. Submission is voluntary and constitutes your consent for us to email you.
Email correspondence
If you email jobs@netzerojobs.uk, we collect your email address, any name you provide, and the content of your message.
Business contacts (B2B outreach)
During pre-launch validation we maintain a working list of UK organisations in the home decarbonisation sector and the publicly-available work contact details of relevant employees (typically hiring managers, heads of talent acquisition, and named recruiters on company careers pages). This data is sourced from public LinkedIn profiles, company websites, and email-finding services (such as Hunter.io) and is processed to make a single business introduction.
Website analytics
We use Cloudflare's privacy-respecting web analytics, which counts visits without setting cookies or storing individual IP addresses. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics like Google Analytics.
3. Why we collect it (lawful bases)
| Type of data | Purpose | Lawful basis under UK GDPR |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletter email | Send launch alert and occasional updates | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Email correspondence | Reply to your message | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| B2B prospect data | Make a single business introduction in a corporate-to-corporate context | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Website analytics | Understand site traffic to improve content | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
4. Who we share data with
We use the following processors to deliver the service. All have appropriate UK GDPR safeguards in place:
- Beehiiv (US-based newsletter platform) — stores newsletter subscribers and sends transactional and marketing emails on our behalf. Data transfers to the US are covered by their Standard Contractual Clauses and Data Processing Addendum.
- Cloudflare (US-based, with UK presence) — hosts the website and provides DDoS protection and content delivery.
-
Zoho Mail (EU-based, with EU data centres) — receives any email you send to
jobs@netzerojobs.uk. - Hunter.io (US-based) — used to verify the deliverability of B2B prospect email addresses before sending a single business introduction.
We do not sell your data to anyone, ever. We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.
5. How long we keep it
- Newsletter signups: until you unsubscribe (one click in any email we send).
- Email correspondence: 24 months from your last contact, then deleted.
- B2B prospect data: 12 months from initial outreach, then deleted unless you become a customer.
- Customer data (once we launch and you become a customer): for as long as our contract is active, plus 7 years for tax records as required by HMRC.
6. Where your data is stored
Most data is stored within the UK or EEA. Some processors (notably Beehiiv, Cloudflare, and Hunter.io) are US-based; transfers to those countries are covered by UK GDPR-compliant Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent transfer safeguards.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your data (this notice).
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Restrict how we use it.
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly-used format.
- Object to our processing of your data, including for marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email jobs@netzerojobs.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
Net Zero Jobs does not use tracking cookies. The Beehiiv embed used for newsletter signups may set essential cookies during signup; these are needed to complete the subscription and are not used for tracking or advertising.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first — please email us before escalating.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the business grows or as the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated via email to current newsletter subscribers.
